After much preparation, the anticipated day finally arrived. Everybody was in great spirits arriving at the gym, with some in their team colors. Each participant received a gift bag upon check-in. A group picture of the participants and volunteers was taken for posterity, and with the blowing of the whistle, the tournament began. The tournament ended with the prize draws. Prizes ranged from racket bags to gift cards.

A total of nine (9) groups participated in a round-robin style tournament, one of which was a mixed doubles group.  Eventual winners in each group were awarded bronze and silver medals, with the first place winner a coveted gold trophy. The trophies and medals were presented during the tournament lunch.

The tournament lunch offered a choice of pork, chicken or vegetarian meals. A group of 8 lady members prepared a variety of desserts which were distributed to each table. To add to this feast were 175 treats that our Letty graciously donated to the tournament lunch.

To spice up the event, several prizes were raffled during the lunch hour. These included two badminton rackets. Everybody took something from this event. Some went home with treats, others with prizes, medals or trophies. And still others went home with the experience of having participated in a badminton tournament.

A special mention to ALL the volunteers here, and especially to Roger (our photographer/videographer) who put their hard work to make both the tournament and lunch social another successful event.
