Bonsor Seniors’ Society was incorporated on February 8, 1985 by a group of seniors who were dedicated to working with the Burnaby Parks & Recreation Department to further the social, educational, recreational, and health programs of Bonsor Seniors’ Services. Services were developed and implemented out of the South Burnaby Men’s Club building located on the Bonsor Park Site. On April 9, 1988 the present Bonsor Recreation Complex was opened with facilities for Seniors’ Services. To encourage membership from the age of 55, The Bonsor Seniors’ Society applied and was granted a name change to “Bonsor 55+ Society”. On September 25, 2013, the Bonsor 55+ Society moved into its own building across the parking lot from the main Bonsor Complex, at 6533 Nelson Avenue.
